Inkscape the free vector graphics editor releases version 1.0 updates after three years of development. This huge release brings translation updates, core framework updates, and new features to help you to create more stunning vector graphics – for free.

The latest Inkscape 1.0 also brings the “preview” build for macOS and promises smoother and higher performance in Linux and Windows.

  • New and improved Live Path Effect (LPE)
  • A new searchable LPE selection dialog
  • Performance improvements while working with node-heavy objects
  • Mirror and rotate the canvas
  • Xray and Split-view modes
  • PowerPencil mode (pressure dependent)
  • Duplicate guides, Corners & Hairlines for technical drawing
  • PDF export, text & document fixes for designing
  • Customizable themes, icons, fonts & UI
  • Python 3 support for extensions

However, this release also brings some fundamental changes in the third-party extension system. So, if your workflow in Inkscape is extension heavy you might want to check out dependency before trying the new release.
