Purism Announces Librem 14 Security Focused Linux Laptop to “protect your digital life”.
Purism computer company announced the launch of its latest security features Linux Laptop offering Librem 14. Librem 14 is the latest Laptop in the Librem series featuring 14inch 1080 IPS matte display with a very thin bezel that gives you an immersive experience.
The major highlights of the Librem 14 laptop is a hardware kill switch. Using the hardware kill switch you can immediately disable webcam, microphone, and WiFi. Not only that it comes with the Purism’s high-security boot firmware – “PureBoot”.
The laptop is available for pre-order today from $1199 after early discount.
As per tech specs, Librem 14 is a beast. It is loaded with Intel Core i7-10710U CPU with 6 cores and 12 threads and combined with a maximum of 32 GB DDR4 RAM.
Intel UHF graphics is available with a very high-performance battery which should give you backup between 7 to 9 hours tops per charge. Very helpful in my opinion.
The Laptop comes with 2.5inch SATA with NVMe capable M.2 slots for SSD storage.
Additional details include 2 USB Type-A 3.1 ports, 1 USB Type-C 3.1 port, one HDMI port that can run 4K at 60 Hz, a headphone jack, and a Gigabit Ethernet adapter with integrated RJ45 connector.
On the software side, it is preloaded with PureOS which is a security-focused Linux distribution based on Debian.
Librem 14 is quite lightweight with just 1.4 kilos and is very portable in that front.
