KDE Plasma desktop environment announced the release of its latest version 5.18. This is a long term support release (LTS) that provides security updates and support for the next two years – i.e. till 2022 while the regular versions maintained for only 4 months.

How to install
For Kubuntu 19.10 you can install Plasma 5.18 via backports PPA. Open the terminal and run the below command to add the PPA.
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
Now run a system update/upgrade to install.
sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade
For non-Kubuntu users, you can install Plasma in Ubuntu 19.10 as a standalone desktop environment via running below commands.
sudo apt update && sudo apt install plasma-desktop
Alternatively, you can install the entire Kubuntu desktop by running below commands:
sudo apt update && sudo apt install kubuntu-desktop
For Kubuntu, you can purge the PPA and remove the Plasma 65.18 via below.
sudo apt install ppa-purge && sudo ppa-purge ppa:kubuntu-ppa/backports
