G’MIC is a GIMP plugin comes with 400+ filters to transform your image.

G’MIC or “Grec’s Magic for Image Computing” is a full featured free and open source image processing suite that comes with GIMP plugin. It comes with a GUI and with 450+ filters right in the GIMP filters menu with auto preview. It also have ability to update the add-on filters from internet while you are manipulating you images. G’MIC also have a feature to visualize 1d/2d/3d datasets.

Due to its extensive library, there are other open source softwares such as Krita, Flowblade uses G’MIC features.

How to Install

Ubuntu, Mint, elementary, Debian

To install G’MIC in Ubuntu, Ubuntu Derivatives, Linux Mint using terminal run below commands in sequence. Enter password when prompted.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gimp-gmic

You can also install the command line only version using below

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gmic

How to Use

Open GIMP, load an image. In the top menu, find it under Filters -> G'MIC
